When I was a small child, I would answer the question "What are you going to be when you grow up?" with "Artist". Alas, by the time I was burdened with adulthood I had also acquired an attitude of pragmatism about art and thus took Mathematics in College (which I also love) and became an engineer.

Engineering was a fine profession and I am proud of the work I did. But in time I knew it wasn't where I should be. Like many people, Corporate down sizing forced a reevaluation of where I was and what I was doing, and I decided it was time to "grow up".

As I recall from my childhood, when I grow up, I'm going to be an artist.

Of course I never stopped drawing and painting and sculpting and sketching. But now I realize that if I do what I love, and I do it with heart, (and I work it hard), the money will follow.

And now, when people ask me what I "am", I say "artist".

A wacom tablet and a fine art program become a new box of paints where the color never runs dry and I never need wash a spill out of my rug. Combined with digitized photography and a fast CPU, the results are reproducible digital images where technology puts no limits on art.
